Surviving Sublime Members Re-sign With MCA For Three More Posthumous Albums

The surviving members of Sublime -- Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh -- along with the estate of the band's late singer Brad Nowell signed a new contract with MCA Records on Monday (Nov. 3) to release three more posthumous albums of previously- unreleased material.

The three releases will be a live album, a Brad Nowell acoustic album, and a greatest hits collection, all culled from the band's archives. Sublime producer Michael "Miguel" Happoldt will compile and produce the new recordings.

Nowell, who died in May 1996, two months before the release of Sublime, can also be heard on the forthcoming album Second Hand Smoke, which will be released Nov. 25 on Gasoline Alley/MCA Records.

As previously reported in allstar, the album consists of 19 previously unreleased tracks, including rarities, remixes, and several remastered catalog songs.

Also scheduled for release on Nov. 25 on Gasoline Alley/MCA is the 5-song CD single "Doin' Time," a collection of remixes of the song from the Sublime album. This includes mixes by Wyclef Jean of the Fugees, Snoop Doggy Dogg, the Pharcyde, an unreleased Nowell version, and the original version.

Finally, the Sublime video will hit store shelves on Nov. 25 as well. The collection includes interview footage and four videos from the Sublime record, "What I Got," "Wrong Way," "Santeria," and "Doin' Time," along with the videos for the cult classics "STP" and "Date Rape."
